I hope you appreciate the in-depth write-up about what Valley Food Storage actually offers.
By knowing clearly what Valley Food Storage sells, you can
After looking at the range of products offered by Valley Food Storage, let’s delve into how Valley Food Storage rank for various important aspects.
1. Range of Meals
Rating: 3.8 / 5.0
The range of meals offered by this company is pretty decent.
Why do I say so?
First, you’ll be able to buy multiple products including entrée bucket, freeze dried fruit bucket, freeze dried vegetables bucket, freeze dried meat bucket.
Second, the products itself has a wide selection of food products. For example, the entrée bucket has 11 types of entrees which is pretty wide.
Of course, the problem faced that you may face is that you may be getting multiple bags of the same food selection in the bucket you purchase. You can overcome this by contacting their support to modify your order. However, if the food kit is in high demand, they may not entertain your request and you’ll just have to make do with what is given.
Therefore, I’ll rate this criteria as above average. This is mainly because the range of food products offered by Valley Food Storage is plenty.
Unlike some food kits that may offer less than 8 types of food, Valley Food Storage offers a wide range of products that include various food items.
2. Quality and Taste
Rating: 4.8 / 5.0
I can assure you that the quality and taste of the products are EXCELLENT. The entrees offered and food products given are one of the tastiest in the market.
Don’t just take my word for it, you can try it yourself.
Alternatively, you can search for other people’s honest review. Their food are simply tasty. Despite it being a long-term food kit, it tastes like a gourmet meal. There is no overpowering flavors and there’s no chemical after tastes.
Valley Food Storage aren’t stingy. They provide the food which tastes full, not bland. Food products which are spicy aren’t overly hot. The Mac & Cheese and Irish Cheddar Potato soup are amongst the best tasting food.
Their freeze-dried fruit is one of the best in the market. You’ll be surprised how good they taste. If you have kids, I’m sure your kids will love them.
Of course, you can’t compare them against the Mountain House, which is one of the best in the industry in terms of taste.
However, Valley Food Storage do pretty decent. Its quality and taste is comparable to other industry leaders like Augason Farms and Wise.
3. Ease of Preparation
Rating: 4.2 / 5.0
For this aspect, I’ll review how easy it is to prepare and clean-up after meals.
What – What do you need to prepare your meals?
It depends on what you are cooking.
If you want to rehydrate food such as soup, or food which contains rice or beans, you may want to add at least 5 cups of water while preparing a meal for 1 person. 5 cups of water is equivalent to 1,182.94 milliliter of water.
How – Basically, how you prepare your meal is by pouring 1,182.94 milliliter of boiling water into the contents of the pack. Then, you will have to let it simmer for around 5 minutes.
However, there are a few exceptions. For example, the Italian Wild Risotto and the Enchilada Beans & Rice requires at least 20 minutes of simmering. This is because these types of food require longer time to rehydrate. Cooking these kinds of food will require you to use more fuel because you’ll need to simmer them longer.
Take note that the higher altitude you are, the longer amount of time you will need to simmer your food.
However, most foods offered by Valley food storage only require 3 to 5 minutes of simmering. Plus, you only need minimum cooking utensils to cook your food. All you need to have is a stove and enough drinking water. If you want to be more careful, you may want to bring along a long handle spoon and a cooking pot.
4. Serving Size
Rating: 4.0 / 5.0
Generally, in our normal everyday life, an active male adult should consume at least 2,500 calories of food a day, while an active adult female should intake around 2,000 calories of food.
Based on industry standards, survival food products often contains less than 2000 calories. Of course, this is based on sound reason that we do not need as much calories when we are in a SHTF situation.
Most of the survival food sold by Valley Food Storage are designed to allow you to tailor your meal to be either 1,500 calories or 2,000 calories.
If you think that the calories are insufficient, you may want to supplement your consumption from the survival food bucket with other entrees, especially the fruit and vegetable buckets to ensure that you and your family get all the important nutrients. This may be one of the reasons why the company also offers various products you can supplement it together with the main course.
5. Meeting Dietary Requirements
Rating: 3.8 / 5.0
Valley Food Storage is one of the few survival food companies that offer survival food which caters for people with various dietary requirements.
There are Gluten-free options and even Vegetarian Options of survival food available for sale.
The company pride itself of making survival food that caters for several audiences.
The food certified to be vegetarian is the Freeze Dried Food Bucket. Vegans will be able to pride themselves for eating clean vegan food.
So far, these are the listed choices on the Valley Food storage website. Although you may not have much option compared to what is offered by Good to-Go, there is still a selection of food specifically designed to meet dietary requirements which makes this company way better than companies who does not even consider dietary requirements when making their products.
6. Nutrition
Rating: 4.7 / 5.0
In rating how the nutrition aspect of the survival food offered fares, I will look into several aspects.
Clean Ingredients
Valley Food Storage pride themselves for using clean ingredients for all of its products.
Clean ingredients basically mean ingredients which does not contain fillers. This means you will be getting high-quality calories for every bite of survival food you take.
By consuming high-quality calories, your body will be able to be healthier and you won’t be feeling sluggish. Unlike consuming empty calories that makes you feel tired, high-quality calories allows your body to feel pumped.
Furthermore, you can be sure that you are getting the healthiest food because the ingredients are non-GMO. By being non-GMO, you will be eating authentic food which is good for your health.
Product Information
Product information are readily available on the website here. Every single product information you need about every product sold by Valley Food Storage are on this page. Furthermore, for individual products, you’ll be able to find the label stating such product information at the product page.
If you want more information, you can message customer support for more information. Their support team are known to be extremely helpful.
General Nutrition
The survival food sold mostly contain carbohydrate and sugar. This is especially true for survival food that are either rice-based or potato-based.
However, Valley Food Storage had been pretty upfront and honest about the sugar content contained in each survival food product. This is plus point because you’ll be consuming the sugar or sodium content as per the label of the products.
7. Ease for Storage
Rating: 3.0 / 5.0
All food from Valley Food Storage are designed to have at least 25 years of shelf life. This shows the company’s commitment to sell products which are suitable to be stored as survival food.
Plus, the food packaged are carefully dehydrated before packing, while the bags are designed to keep the food for the long-term.
The packets of food are stored in a tightly sealed bucket. This bucket is specifically designed to help keep your survival food fresh and to help ensure that the buckets can be stacked up for convenient storage.
However, the food packages may be a bit large for a single-person serving because the entrees come in 5-serving packs, while the breakfast bucket comes in 10-serving packets. This means that after you open a single pack, it will remain open and you’ll need to actively keep the food fresh. Since the Mylar bags are resealable and it comes with oxygen absorbers, you’ll be able to keep the food fresh in the bags for an extended period of time.
8. Cost and Value for Money
Rating: 3.0 / 5.0
Compared to other brands, valley food storage has a pretty expensive. However, because Valley Food Storage provides high-quality food and excellent customer service, I think that the premium paid is justifiable.
Let us compare one of the products so that we can have a tangible comparison.
I’ll be comparing the Macaroni and Cheese sold by various brands.
In this comparison, I’ll compare the Mac and Cheese sold by Valley Food Storage, ReadyWise and Mountain House.
Brand | Valley Food Storage | ReadyWise | Mountain House |

Although the price may inflate in the future, I believe that this will be an accurate representation as to where each brand stand.
Based on the above table, it is clear that Valley Food Storage pricing particularly for the Macaroni and Cheese is more expensive compared to other brands.
However, if you want to purchase high-quality survival food and get top-notch customer service, Valley Food Storage is a good option.

This means that this isn’t my personal opinion, this is general consensus.
Valley Food Storage has an amazing track record of providing timely delivery and excellent customer service team that is a pleasure to work with. You’ll be at ease ordering survival food from Valley Food Storage. If you have any concerns, just reach out to the customer service team and you’ll get a response almost immediately.
If I were to be strict and talk negatively about this, it’ll be the waiting time to get delivery. Especially during peak seasons, the waiting time to get your product will be longer. This is because the company needs to replenish food and fulfil large quantities of orders, which causes delay in delivering some orders.
All in all, the customer service is one of the best amongst the many survival food companies around.
